Huge loss for the Bernoulli Institute

We are saddened to announce the tragic passing of our colleague Marco Wiering.

Marco was an internationally well-known and respected AI scientist in machine learning, and a passionate and excellent teacher. As a researcher his deep insights and creative ideas in artificial intelligence have greatly inspired our students and staff.

He joined the Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Engineering Institute (now part of the Bernoulli Institute) in 2007. His areas of expertise included machine learning, Reinforcement Learning, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Object Recognition, Text Learning, Evolutionary Computation, Robotics, Game Playing, Multi-agent Systems, Time-series Analysis.

Marco will be dearly missed.
