Title: Quantization and circular symmetry

Abstract:

I will try to explain the process of quantization (viewed as a passage from a continuum to a discrete setting) in very simple examples, showing the fundamental importance of circular symmetry. In recent years, this viewpoint lead to interesting developments in the theory of quantum toric and semitoric systems.
