Enrolment course and exam

Here you will find all sorts of information relating to course enrolment (courses, seminars, Law in Practice, Master's thesis) and exams, as well as how to use the course information available in Ocasys and Brightspace.
Course enrolment
Enrolment periods
Before enrolling for courses, follow these steps to ensure a smooth process:
-
Check the enrolment periods.
-
Check in Ocasys whether you fulfil the entry requirements of the course. Course enrolment is open to all, but if you do not fulfil the entry requirements, your course enrolment will not lead to an exam enrolment.
-
If you participate in more than one LLM or track: check the schedule to see which courses you can take in the same block to avoid overlap.
Enrolling for a course
Check the manual to see how to enrol.

Seminar enrolment
Compulsory seminar
Each LLM has a compulsory seminar. You have to enrol for the compulsory seminar yourself. Check the enrolment periods.
You can only enrol in the seminar of your LLM. Other seminars are not available for you.
What if you missed the seminar enrolment deadline?
If you did not enrol for a seminar during the enrolment period, contact the department in charge of the particular seminar as soon as possible.
Exam enrolment
How exam enrolment works
At the Faculty of Law, course enrolment equals exam enrolment. You will be automatically enrolled for the exam and any resits if you:
-
enrol for a course correctly
-
meet the entry requirements, and
-
have a valid UG student registration for your degree programme.
Confirmation of your exam enrolment and table number
-
At least three weeks before the start of the examination period, you will receive an email requesting you to check your exam enrolments.
-
Check your exam enrolments in Ocasys to ensure everything is correct.
-
One week before the start of the examination period, you will receive an email with your table number for each exam.
-
Regularly check your UG email for updates.
De-enrol if you choose not to participate
If you decide not to take the exam or resit, de-enrol as soon as possible in Ocasys.
Missed the enrolment deadline? Here is how to fix it
Forgot to enrol for a course or did not meet the requirements when exam enrolments were processed?
-
A repair possibility is available in week 5 of each block for exam or resit enrolment in Ocasys.
-
This enrolment also grants access to Brightspace and any resit exams.
-
After week 5, no repair is possible for that block’s exams.
According to the Examination Regulation, you must enrol for written exams. Failure to do so means you cannot participate, and any exam taken will be invalid.
Check the academic calendar for repair possibility weeks.
Resit examinations
If you fail or do not participate in the exam, you will be automatically enrolled for the resit if you:
-
are correctly enrolled for the course in Ocasys
-
meet the entry requirements, and
-
have a valid UG student registration for your degree programme.
Do you only want to take the resit? Then enrol for the course, but de-enrol from the exam as soon as your exam enrolment is confirmed.

Enrolment Master's thesis
Enrolment period
The thesis process is organised as a course, so you must enrol in the semester before you start your research.
There are two starting moments per academic year:
-
Start on 1 February: enrol during block 2 (October/November).
-
Start on 1 September: enrol during block 4 (March/April).
You must adhere to all deadlines to complete your Master’s thesis on time. The timelines for each starting moment are fixed.
Tip
Plan your thesis process carefully, considering other responsibilities in the same semester. Enrolment is binding and means you will receive a grade. For help with planning, contact your study advisers.
Consequences enrolment
Enrolment for the Master's thesis is binding.
This means:
-
you will receive a grade
-
you will have to hand in a research plan, draft version and final version at the required time
Missing enrolment deadline
Missing the enrolment deadline means you cannot participate in the Master's thesis for your LLM in that particular semester.
The next option is the next semester.
