On Thursday 16 May, the Transboundary Legal Studies Department, together with the Nexus Student Association, organized a successful career day for students featuring speakers ranging from the International Criminal Court to the Iran-US Claims Tribunal. TRICI-Law is a 5-year ERC Starting Grant project. On May 1, 2018 the TRICI-Law project was officially launched. The acronym stands for “The Rules of Interpretation of Customary International Law”.

On 24 August 2018, Prof. Panos Merkouris delivered a presentation at the ELSA Summer School on Investment Law on “Interpretation of Customary Rules of International Investment Law”. The summer school brought together academics and practitioners in a series of lectures and workshops intended to give the participants an overview of cutting-edge issues in international investment law.

On 22 August 2018, Prof. Panos Merkouris, in his capacity as Co-rapporteur, presented the interim report of the ILA Study Group on the Content and Evolution of the Rules of Interpretation during the 78th Biennial Conference of the ILA in Sydney.

On 9 August 2018, Prof. Panos Merkouris was invited by the Faculty of Law of the Universida Externado de Colombia (Profs. Jose Manuel Álvarez and Maciej Zenkiewicz) to a Seminar on Customary International Law. Prof. Merkouris was the main speaker, and presented on the theoretical validity of interpreting customary international law.
