The Groningen Centre of European Financial Services Law is happy to announce the next lunch meeting.

The meeting will be held online on 31 March 2023 from 12:00-13:00 p.m. (CET).

Our speaker will be dr. Antonio Maracci. Antonio is Vice President of the Compliance Function of an EU Global Systemically Important Bank. He is also a lecturer (Lehrbeauftragter) at the University of Passau, Germany, and at the University of Leipzig, Germany, where he gives courses in EU, US, and Chinese Banking and Financial Law. Antonio holds a PhD in Law from the European University Institute (EUI), Florence.

The topic of his presentation is Transnational Securities Regulation: The Case of Retail Investor Protection. Particularly after the 2008 global crisis, transnational securities regulation has played a key role in ensuring effective and sustainable cross-border financial markets. In his new monograph Transnational Securities Regulation: How it Works, Who Shapes it published by Springer, Antonio analyses the key standard-setter at the international level - the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). Through several case studies, the book also explores the role played and the influence exerted by the US and the EU on IOSCO’s regulatory production. In his presentation, Antonio will focus on IOSCO’s standards for retail investor protection.

Signing up for the lunch meeting is possible until 29 March 2023 by responding to this email. All participants will receive a Google Meet invitation.
