Willemijn Krugers Dagneaux, LL.M., and Prof. Brigit Toebes receive two YAG interdisciplinary grants

Willemijn Krugers Dagneaux (lecturer of health law at the UMCG) and Brigit Toebes (professor of health law in a global context at our faculty) have been awarded two interdisciplinary YAG grants. With the help of these grants, they will continue to expand research and teaching in the field of health law.
Grant for interdisciplinary research
Krugers Dagneaux and Toebes were awarded the YAG grant for interdisciplinary research together with Dr Radboud Marijnissen (psychiatrist at the UMCG). They will use the grant to conduct qualitative research into the willfulness of people who have received euthanasia due to psychological suffering. That research will be conducted using judgments of the Regional Euthanasia Review Committee. Krugers Dagneaux, Toebes and Marijnissen will also conduct a comparative law study of the rules surrounding euthanasia on the basis of psychological suffering in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Another grant for interdisciplinary education
Krugers Dagneaux and Toebes also received the YAG grant for interdisciplinary education together with a colleague, namely drs. Marleen Erich (researcher at the UMCG). This grant will be used to open up health law lectures at the UMCG to law students. In addition, law students will have the opportunity to visit a disciplinary case of the Zwolle Regional Disciplinary Tribunal and will reenact a disciplinary case together with medical students, accompanied by Krugers Dagneaux and other UMCG lecturers.
