Silke Goldberg appointed professor by special appointment of Energy Law in the North Sea

On 19 September, Silke Goldberg, world specialist in the field of energy, was appointed professor by special appointment of Energy Law in the North Sea at the Faculty of Law of the University of Groningen.

Energy Traders Europe has appointed her for a period of five years. By establishing this Chair, the Faculty and Energy Traders Europe aim to give impetus to the theme of energy (law) within the University of Groningen, to solve the challenges in the field of energy law in the North Sea region and, specifically, to develop sustainable energy infrastructure in that region.

This chair also establishes a link between science and the practical challenges in energy law in the North Sea region.

Curriculum Vitae

Silke Goldberg specialises in energy law and climate change. She is global head of ESG/Sustainability. She advises on clean energy, energy infrastructure and climate-related transactions in the UK, the EU and internationally.

She has worked in the energy sector for over twenty years, supporting clients in the energy, infrastructure and extractive industries. Her work covers regulatory frameworks, project development, mergers and acquisitions, and litigation, including cases before the European Court of Justice.

In 2023 she obtained her PhD from the University of Groningen in the field of Brexit and the energy sector.
