A new LLM programme: Health and Technology Law

12 September 2023
Prof. Dr Brigit Toebes

For the 2024-2025 admissions round, the Faculty has introduced a new LLM to its portfolio of programmes: Health and Technology Law.

In this one-year LLM programme, students have the opportunity to obtain a profound knowledge of health law, technology law, as well as the interface between both regimes.

The Academic Director of the programme is Prof. Brigit Toebes . In describing the LLM, she explains:

This is a unique, new master programme focusing on two specialised fields of law and their expanding interconnectivity. We are especially excited about the fact that there will be so much health law in this programme, which is quite special for an LLM. We take a holistic and multidisciplinary approach, with an emphasis not only on healthcare settings and patients rights, but also on topics like mental health, reproductive health, a healthy living environment, and lifestyle. These areas increasingly rely on technology in our global society, so this programme facilitates health lawyers and legal professionals in the making from all over the world. Students are trained to work in international, European, and domestic health bodies, including the World Health Organization, health ministries, health inspectorates, hospitals, and more.

The Health and Technology Law LLM, as well as the rest of the English taught LLM programmes at the Faculty, will be open for applications starting this October (for studies beginning in September 2024).

You can find more information about the programme at the Health and Technology Law webpages , and are welcome to join our upcoming Masters Week presentation for the LLM in November 2023.

If you have any questions, please contact the Faculty through our information request form.

*The LLM Health and Technology Law is registered as a track under the LLM CROHO label Public International Law (60856).
