Symposium The Energytransition in a Comparative Perspective

When:We 24-05-2023 13:00 - 17:30
Where:Van Swinderen Huys, Oude Boteringestraat 19, 9712 GC Groningen

The energy transition has arrived. Normative arrangements concerning energy need to change, from production, through transport, in- and export, distribution and consumption, in a sustainable manner – as it is fundamentally determined by existential ecological issues. It questions our normative framework, demanding it to adapt, from its philosophical fundaments, through the public and private law domain, all in a social and political playing field between mandatory law and individual autonomy.

Our topic by nature crosses boundaries of jurisdictions, and for that reason comparative law and its methodology is eminently appropriate to analytically and synthetically rethink how law can support this transition. Distinguished speakers from the Dutch, Hungarian, German, Spanish and Catalan jurisdictions will address this topic from various angles. Prof. dr Leon Verstappen and prof. dr Björn Hoops of our Faculty will be joining. We look forward to a very interesting afternoon!
