Meeting XR Hub on October 7: return of the European bison in the Netherlands and Virtual Practicals in practice

The XR Hub organizes a meeting every two months for teachers en researchers of the University of Groningen to share knowledge and experiences about the development and use of applications of Extended Reality (Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), Virtual Reality (VR) and 3D).

The XR Hub meeting on October 7th will take place 'live' again in the Smitsborg for the first time in a long time. In addition to the presentations, there is also a demonstration of the software in the XR lab.

  • Return of the European bison in the Netherlands - Lisa Sánchez Aguilar (GELIFES/UG)
    A mix of 2D illustrations is incorporated into an interactive 3D visual space where the European bison walks through the Białowieża forest in Poland and finally through the dunes in the Netherlands.

  • Experiences with Virtual Practicals (ViP) in practice - Niek Eisink (Teachers X-lab Chemistry/UG)
    With 3D-virtual reality (3D-VR) students can practice laboratory acts in a virtual but natural environment. In this way, they enter the physical laboratory or the practical room better prepared.
