On Wednesday 13 January, the University of Groningen (UG) officially awarded the Holland Scholarships. 21 incoming candidates from 13 different countries outside EU/EEA were selected for this prestigious scholarship. On behalf of the Board of UG, the Head of the International Strategy and Relationships department, Mervin Bakker digitally handed out the certificates to the candidates during a special online ceremony.

Despite the COVID-19 restrictions it was still possible to have an eventful and interactive session that was well received by the selected students. We are happy to have started the new year on a positive note and want to thank everybody who was involved.

Holland Scholarship

The Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and the respective Higher Education institutions fund Holland Scholarship grants jointly. The purpose of the scholarship is to enable talented students from non EU/EER countries to get a Dutch Higher Education University degree. The outgoing students are selected by the UG faculties to strengthen the bonds with their preferred partners. They are real ambassadors for the UG abroad.

This was the sixth year the Holland Scholarships were awarded. A new round will by organized for the Academic year 2021 – 2022. More information about the Holland Scholarship and contact details can be found on the UG website.
