Call for proposals conference or workshop Globalisation Studies Groningen

13 January 2020

Globalisation Studies Groningen is an interfaculty institute boosting global initiatives of RUG staff and research groups on the nexus of globalisation and development, and promoting and deepening the international profile of the university. Under this mission we facilitate existing interdisciplinary groups and encourage the establishment of new groups exchanging and building knowledge on globalisation issues. To support these groups, we can offer an incentive of 750 euros (maximum) and administrative support (including public relations) for the organisation of a conference or workshop with the following criteria:

·         Globalisation and development-related issues: the conference/workshop concerns the exchange of research ideas on issues with a global impact such as humanitarian and development aid, conflict, social, economic and environmental aspects of globalization, and global health. In addition, proposals are welcome that address social and educational inclusion in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals;
·         Interdisciplinary character: the conference participants actively include (but not necessarily exclusively) staff (and students) of different faculties of the RUG;
·         The organization should make an effort to include early career researchers of the RUG: PhD candidates or Postdocs play a role in the organisation and/or are also an explicit target of the conference/workshop;

The proposal should include:

·         A description of the theme, objectives, target group and organisers (with a targeted minimum of 20 participants for the conference/workshop);
·         An explanation of the contribution of the conference/workshop to the goals of Globalisation Studies Groningen and the role of the conference/workshop in establishing and maintaining interdisciplinary activities concerning globalisation in the long run;
·         A provisional programme for the conference/workshop (for at least one full day) and public relations plan;
·         A justification referring to the criteria mentioned above with recommendation letters of researchers of at least two RUG faculties;
·         A provisional budget;
·         Expected in-kind support GSG.
