Launch of Virtual Research Workspace

13 March 2019

Last week the Virtual Research Workspace of the CIT and the UMCG officially went into production.

This is a virtualized desktop environment where researchers from the RUG and the UMCG can perform data analyzes safely and jointly.

A safe place to work together

The Virtual Research Workspace offers a secure way to form partnerships with researchers from your own organization and other institutions worldwide. The services (applications and data) are available 24 hours a day.

Logging in is done with the existing institution account through multi-factor authentication. The institution account makes it possible to work on multiple studies simultaneously in a secure manner. Each research has its own closed system, which makes it impossible to directly exchange data.

Data security

In the Virtual Research Workspace, the researcher has full control over the data and results and minimal risks of data breaches. Working in this environment guarantees that the data is safe, even in the event of loss or theft of a laptop, the data does not end up on the street.

Contact

Researchers who want to use the Virtual Research Workspace can contact the Research Data Office: researchdata rug.nl.
