University of Groningen to award Honorary Doctorate to Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon

The University of Groningen will award South Korean diplomat and former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon with an Honorary Doctorate on October 17, 2018. The eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations will be recognized for his outstanding achievements as Chair of the Global Commission on Adaptation (GCA) and his societal contributions in the field of peacekeeping and the development of the Paris Agreement within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.The Honorary Doctorate will be conferred on Mr. Ban by Rector magnificus Elmer Sterken.
