UG best classic Master’s University in the Netherlands
The latest edition of the Keuzegids Masters labels 18 degree programmes at the University of Groningen as Top Degree Programmes. The UG Research Master’s degree programme in Economics and Business has even been rated best university Master’s degree programme in the Netherlands. The Master’s degree in Nanoscience is in the top three for the sixth year in a row. The University of Groningen takes an overall first place among the nine classic universities with a total score of 63.5 points and is the third Master's university in the Netherlands if the technical universities are included.

18 Top Degree Programmes
The Keuzegids Masters 2018 includes descriptions of all Master’s degree programmes officially registered in the Netherlands. Most of the programmes are also awarded points to express quality. Some degree programmes are so good, scoring 76 points or more, that the editors award them the label of Top Degree Programme. This label has been awarded to 157 Master’s degree programmes nationally, including 18 University of Groningen programmes. The UG Top Master’s Degree Programmes are: Archaeology (Research Master), Astronomy, Behavioural and Cognitive Neurosciences (Research Master), Chemical Engineering, Criminal Law and Criminology, Ecology and Evolution, European Studies, Philosophy, International Law and the Law of International Organizations, Arts and Culture, Marketing, Legal Research (Research Master), Mathematics, Nanoscience, American Studies, Economics and Business (Research Master), Sociology and Spatial Sciences (Research Master).
...and 13 first places
In addition to the Top Master’s degree programmes, 13 other Master’s degree programmes finished first in their respective categories: Linguistics, Linguistics (Research Master), Archaeology, Theology and Religious Studies (Research Master), Philosophy (Research Master), International Economics and Business, Human Resource Management, Medicine, Pharmacy, Sport Sciences, Artificial Intelligence, Human-Machine Communication and Chemistry.
Master’s Week
Rector Magnificus Elmer Sterken, himself an economist, is proud: ‘Our Faculty of Economics and Business is home to the best University Master’s degree programme in the Netherlands, with the Research Master scoring no fewer than 104 points. The Master’s degree programme in Nanoscience also received an excellent score of 102 points, making it one of the top three Master’s degree programmes in the Netherlands for the sixth year in a row. With Master's Week ahead, this is wonderful news.’

2018 Higher Education Guide for Master’s degree programmes
The Keuzegids offers a brief description of all Dutch Master’s degree programmes. A quality assessment is given for most programmes, based on student evaluations and the NVAO evaluation (NVAO is an accreditation organization).
