National Stargazing Days in the Blaauw Observatory

21 February 2018

On Friday, February 23 and Saturday, February 24 the Blaauw Observatory at the Zernike Campus of the University of Groningen is opened for the 42nd National Stargazing Days. These are coordinated yearly by the Royal Netherlands Association for Meteorology and Astronomy (KNVWS). The weather forecasts are very good and expect clear evenings.

The program includes guided tours in the observatory and lectures by astronomers from the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute. And there is a range of interactive experiments in the Science LinX exhibition. In the inflatable planetarium you may join on a virtual journey through the universe. Especially for children there are nice activities. They can design their own space mission with the help of space institute SRON. And for the youngest ones Woezel & Pip tell about the stars. The stargazing evenings last from 6.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. Lectures, guided tours and planetarium shows are available in Dutch and English. Admission is free, registration is recommended.
