UG honorary doctor Helmut Kohl dies

On Friday 16 June Helmut Kohl has died. The former chancellor of Germany was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Groningen in 1999.
Kohl served as chancellor from 1982 until 1998. He is often seen as the father of the German unification and was a key player in the formation of the European Union. He was 87.
