Prestigious RSC Awards for chemistry professors Feringa and Harutyunyan
The prestigious Royal Society of Chemistry (UK) has awarded prizes to two University of Groningen professors. Ben Feringa has been awarded the 2017 Centenary Prize and Syuzanna Harutyunyan the 2017 Homogeneous Catalysis Award. The awards comprise a medal and a cash prize and an invitation to give a lecture tour at a number of universities in the United Kingdom.
Ben Feringa has been awarded his prize for the ‘molecular motor’, a light-driven rotating nanomolecule, for which he also won the 2016 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Syuzanna Harutyunyan will receive her RSC Award for developing methods to synthesize molecules that will be very useful in the pharmaceutical, chemical or agrochemical industries.
The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) is a renowned non-profit organization in the United Kingdom. Founded 175 years ago, the Society aims to promote excellence and collaboration in chemistry research.
