Ben Feringa wins Academic Society Award
On Wednesday 19 April, on the Day of the Engineer, Nobel Prizewinner Ben Feringa was presented with the Academic Society Award by The Royal Netherlands Society of Engineers (KIVI). He received the award in the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix and Princess Mabel of Orange. Feringa was awarded the prize in acknowledgement of the great importance of his research and the captivating way he links science to society.
‘Prof. Ben Feringa has been honoured by the KIVI for his excellent research and his exceptional talent in making it accessible to the public. It is wonderful to see how he takes the time to explain his work to the media, in schools and through public lectures to reach as many people as possible,’ says KIVI Director Micaela dos Ramos.
Academic Society Award
The KIVI Academic Society Award is presented to professors who stand out in terms of excellent research and their ability to link science to society in an appealing manner. The Academic Society Award is presented annually during the Day of the Engineer.
