Student Sofia (Russia): ‘In love with Groningen after just three days’

04 September 2014

One of the approximately 1800 new international students the University of Groningen welcomed on 1 September is Sofia Danko. She is from Moscow and this week has begun her Master’s degree programme in Artificial Intelligence. Dutch higher education is popular with foreign students, according to research conducted by University alumnus Arno Overmars. Compared to other countries, the Netherlands is extremely popular. This year, the University of Groningen has students hailing from some 115 different countries. Sofia Danko is satisfied with her choice. ‘I’ve only been here three days, but I’ve already fallen in love with Groningen.’ She told her story in the NOS op 3 news bulletin on Wednesday 3 September.
