Rubicon fellowship for Dr. Saeedeh Farokhipoor

03 July 2014

Dr. Saeedeh Farokhipoor, postdoc in the group of Prof. Beatriz Noheda, was awarded the prestigious Rubicon fellowship. She is one of only three grantees in the field of physics. Her project "Rapid transport of magnetic information in carbon" will be carried out at the University of Cambridge in the Department of Materials Science & Metallurgy.

The abstract below briefly describes her project:
Improvements to semiconductor electronics cannot continue indefinitely due to physical limitations. Scientists plan to investigate how well sheets of carbon atoms (graphene) can carry magnetic information in order to make faster, cheaper and denser electronic devices that consume less power.

Please visit the NWO press-release (Dutch) for more information on the 2014 Rubicon round.
