Risk of failure of wireless equipment in health care and industry underestimated
In health care wireless equipment is used increasingly; such as video contact and remote home care. Many organisations rarely take into account that this wireless communication may fail, while the risk of failing is actually on the increase. This was shown by research carried out by the University of Groningen commissioned by the Agentschap Telecom of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The researchers warn against problems that can arise in, for instance, nursing homes and home care and they make recommendations for improved risk management.
The research was carried out in both healthcare and industry, and also smaller industrial companies appeared often to be insufficiently prepared for a possible failure of wireless equipment.
