New Unifocus: Paved-over gardens, googling in handwritten archives and a portrait of Petrus Driessen
The new Unifocus, the video magazine of the University of Groningen, is online.
This week:
- Paved-over gardens. ‘To what degree are gardens being paved over? And what are the consequences for people and wildlife?’ This was one of the questions the University of Groningen received as part of the ‘400 Days for 400 Questions’ project, part of the University’s 400th anniversary festivities.
- Googling in historical handwritten archives. Lambert Schomaker’s research group has developed the Monk system, which enables computers to recognize characters and pictures in historical texts.
- Petrus Driessen. A portrait of this well-known 18th century Groninger chemist.
Each episode of the weekly online video magazine Unifocus includes three items related to the University of Groningen, in the fields of research and society, student life, teaching, policy and internationalization.
