Understanding pneumococci. Jan-Willem Veening received three prestigious grants in 2013. He was chosen to participate in the ‘EMBO Young Investigators Programme’, and was awarded Vidi and ERC grants. Veening will use these to pursue his current ground-breaking research.

Embracing for centuries on end. Last summer, Sofia Voutsaki, professor of Greek archaeology, found a grave containing a man and a woman in an embrace.

For Infinity. Jan Cornelius Kapteyn. A portrait of Professor Kapteyn, 'the true father of Dutch astronomy'.
