Winner Herta Macht thesis prize
Thursday, June 20, 2013 the result of the Herta Macht Thesis Prize 2013 has been made known:
Winner is Renske van der Wal for her dissertation titled: Place Meaning in hospices. A case study in the hospice of Groningen.
The second place was achieved by Linden Douma with her thesis titled: The relationship between the urban structure
or post-war neighborhoods and their liveability and the third prize by Nina Čonková with her thesis titled Ageing and depopulation in Bulgaria. An
honorable mention was given to Johan Haverkate for his thesis: The development of the retail trade in physical growth and shrinking municipalities. A comparative study of the impact of population growth on the retail offer in supporting retail concentrations.
The award ceremony will take place at the reception of the Fourth Int. Interdisciplinary Conference on Emotional Geographies on Monday, July 1st from 19:00 hrs. in the Martini Church in Groningen by the chairman of the jury Professor Piet Pellenbarg and Dr Bettina van Hoven, by whom the award is made available.
