Public Lecture by Prof. James Robinson from Harvard University
On 8 April Professor James Robinson from Harvard University will be our next guest lecturer in the Maddison Lecture series in Economic History and Development. The topic of this lecture will be: "Why is Africa Poor?" The subject of Africa's economic development is currently one of the focal points of research projects within the GGDC, hence this lecture comes at an opportune moment.
James Robinson is David Florence Professor of Government at Harvard University and, together with Daron Acemoglu, author of the book 'Why Nations Fail', published in 2012. His research interests are in comparative economic and political development with a focus on the long-run with a particular interest in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa.
The event takes place between 15:30 and 17:15 on Monday 8 April in the Senaatskamer, Academy building. The topic should be very interesting for everyone in GGDC.
