First Culture Education programme starts in cooperation with Museumhuis Groningen

08 February 2013

The Faculty of Arts and Museumhuis Groningen are together starting the first post-HBO/WO academic Culture Education Programme. The aim is to strengthen the theoretical underpinning of culture education.

The new programme will start in April 2013 and will concentrate on the culture-educational sector. The programme is a response to the most recent developments in the field. This means more attention to internal quality and an anchoring of culture education in school and society, after an essential and fruitful increase in projects.

Programme

The various interrelationships of aspects of culture education (culture, cultural awareness, media, arts, heritage, philosophy) will be discussed. Targeted assignments will enable the participants to apply and test the knowledge they gain in their daily practice.

The programme is intended for managers, trainers, policy officers (middle and high level) and developers in the culture-educational field. The programme will be headed by Prof. Barend van Heusden (professor of Culture and Cognition) and Dr Eelco van Es, both from the Arts, Culture and Media department.
