University of Groningen among the favourite employers of young academics

09 June 2011

The University of Groningen is one of the favourite employers of young academics in the Netherlands. This has been revealed by the Intermediair Image Survey 2011. For the first time, this year our University is on the ranking list of fifty most popular employers. The distinguished 46th place is extra gratifying because the University of Groningen and the University of Utrecht are the only educational institutions to make the list of favourite employers for young academics.

‘Internal research has long shown that the job satisfaction of our staff is increasing. It’s great that this result is now also visible to the outside world, at least in the Netherlands. Our next goal is to be perceived in a global context as an excellent employer’, is the reaction of Sibrand Poppema, President of the Board of the University.

Intermediair Image Survey 2011

Intermediair investigated the image of employers and determined the favourite employers of higher education students and academics with up to ten years work experience. The ranking list is headed for the third year in a row by the Rabobank. The top 50 and an explanation of the results can be viewed on the Intermediair Image Survey 2011 website.

Trend

The good image that our University has among young academics fits the picture that has recently emerged from other surveys. At the end of 2010, the magazines Incompany and Intermediair already counted the University of Groningen among the best employers in the Netherlands.

In a staff satisfaction survey organized by Incompany, the University came top of the list in the universities category, and 23rd in the list as a whole. In the Intermediair Best Employers Survey 2010, the RUG achieved 38th place and was 15th on the separate list for non-profit organizations.
