Kinome profiling - methods and applications

Kinomics is a recent technology for the global analysis of signal transduction pathways in cells. The thesis describes this technology in detail and demonstrates its successful application to cells and tissue systems.

Kinome profiling is used to define a consensus substrate for two highly homologous kinases with very different roles in the physiology of the cell, c-Raf and MAP3K8. The results show that, although the consensus sequences for these two kinases are similar, there are certainly differences that could explain differences in biological action.
