Strain and composition effects in epitaxial ferroelectrics. Structural studies on PbxSr1-TiO3 thin films grown by MBE

22 January 2010

PhD Ceremony: dhr. G. Rispens, 11.00 uur, Academiegebouw, Broerstraat 5, Groningen

Dissertation: Strain and composition effects in epitaxial ferroelectrics. Structural studies on PbxSr1-TiO3 thin films grown by MBE

Promotor(s): prof.dr. T.T.M. Palstra, prof.dr. B. Noheda

Faculty: Mathematics and Natural Sciences

In his research, Gijsbert Rispens used x-ray diffraction techniques as well as simulations of these to determine the ferroelectric properties of materials. One of his conclusions was that a ferroelectric material that has grown in the ferroelectric phase has other qualitative properties than a ferroelectric material that has grown in the paraelectric phase.
