Robert Scapens receives Swedish honorary doctorate
On 29 May Robert Scapens received an honorary doctorate from Lund University. Scapens is currently a professor in Management Accounting at FEB and professor at Manchester Business School. Robert Scapens (1946) was awarded the honoris causa (Doctor of Science) for his achievements as a professor and researcher in the field of management accounting.
In his research Scapens has used a variety of theories and methodologies to study management accounting and controlling in business organizations. He has also written extensively about case study research methods. Together with Michael Bromwich Scapens has set up the journal Management Accounting Research in 1990. This has become the major international research journal in the field of management accounting.
Robert Scapens has been a visiting professor at Lund University since 2006. This is the second honorary doctorate he has received. Previously he was awarded a honoris causa (Doctor of Science) from the university in Vaasa, Finland.
