Debate 28 November: is the end of unregulated neoliberalism near?

For more than twenty years, the West saw the role of government preferably as small as possible. However, the world-wide credit crisis seems to have changed our minds and might be the forerunner of an economic recession. Does the credit crisis mark the end of unregulated liberalism and supercapitalism? Has the state itself become a player on the market? What are the consequences? How to judge this in political terms?

These and other questions will be discussed by banker Huib van der Burg, director of Rabobank Groningen and graduate in economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Geert Reuten (SP), politician and teacher in economics at the University of Amsterdam, Frank Ankersmit, philosopher of history at the University of Groningen and author of the VVD programme and prof. Steven Brakman, economist at the Faculty of Eonomics and Business.

Language of communication will be Dutch.
