International Energy Convention and job market, 19-21 November

The Energy Delta Research Centre (EDReC) of the University of Groningen, the Energy Valley foundation and Energy Delta Institute (EDI) co-host the upcoming (3rd) edition of the Energy Delta Convention Groningen from 19 till 21 November. Central theme is the increasing mix of centralized and decentralized energy supply and how this development affects the transition to a sustainable energy future. With the Northern Netherlands becoming the European Gas roundabout, the role of natural gas as transition fuel will also be an important theme. Chairman is prof.dr. Catrinus Jepma of the Faculty of Economics and Business.

The Energy Delta Job Market is an important side event of the convention. This recruitment event especially organized for young professionals and shortly graduating students, who are interested in businesses, government and science & technology institutes operating in the field of international energy policies & markets. Young professionals and students have the possibility to visit the market and discuss with the present energy companies and interact during the workshops.


The Energy Delta Convention is an international platform for science, business and government. The conference is organised each year in Groningen, and attracts visitors from all over the world. Some 75 experts - including 6 keynote speakers - behind the latest groundbreaking developments in energy are invited to present their work at the EDC2007.

Energy Delta Research Centre (EDReC) combines the energy related research of the University of Groningen. Main theme is the transition from current fossil energy resources to new sustainable energy production. This implies a vast number of research questions in geopolitics, law, physics, economics, management and Organization, chemistry, biology, social sciences, information technology and spatial sciences. These disciplines together create a broad base for EDReC research programmes that cover the entire energy chain.

Energy Delta Institute (EDI) is an international business school for Natural Gas. It is a joint cooperation of N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie, GasTerra, OAO Gazprom and the University of Groningen, joined by Shell in 2006. EDI aims to contribute to educating the current and future energy manager by coordinating knowledge projects and developing educational programmes on all economical, management and geopolitical aspects of natural gas. EDI works closely together with its partners and national and international organizations, governments and knowledge institutes.

Within EnergyValley, public and private parties have joined hands to enable the energy-related activities in the Northern provinces of the Netherlands to grow into a cluster of national and international importance. It aims to strengthen the economy and employment in the Northern Netherlands by deploying the energy activities in an optimal way. Energy Valley has three corner stones: development of sustainable energy, expansion of the knowledge infrastructure and stimulating energy-related business activities.
