Japanese, British and Groningen economists at the Osaka University Forum in Groningen
Together with Osaka University, the Faculty of Economics of the University of Groningen (RUG) is organizing the Osaka University Forum 2007 from 28-30 June 2007 at the Hampshire Hotel Meerwold in Groningen. The theme of the conference is Frontiers of Economics and its Applications. The RUG has been working very closely with Osaka University since 2002. The cooperation involves the exchange of both students and staff.
One of the themes at the conference will be so-called behavioural economics. Recently, this field has grown in international importance and is one of the spearheads of research at Osaka University. Ambassador Komachi of Japan will give a lecture on business relations between Japan and the Netherlands on Saturday 30 June.
A total of 20 top Japanese economists and 20 Groningen economists, as well as the two top British economists Angus Maddison and Ken Wallis, will present their work. Maddison, emeritus professor at the RUG, is world famous for his pioneering work in the field of the history of economics. Wallis, who was made an honorary professor by the RUG in 1999, is renowned for his work in the field of macro-econometric modelling. The programme of the conference is available on the website www.osaka-u-groningen.org.
