Prof. Leeflang appointed to ‘Smart Mix’ advisory committee for NWO and Ministry of Economic Affairs
Professor of Marketing Peter Leeflang has been appointed to the national advisory committee Smart Mix. Smart Mix
is a grant programme set up by NWO and the Ministry of Economic Affairs. There is an annual budget of EUR 100 million available for innovative research where knowledge institutions work together with businesses and/or social organizations. The independent Smart Mix advisory committee selects the applications that qualify for a grant.
Leeflang has been invited to be the economics expert in the advisory committee, which consists of experts from various academic disciplines and the business world. ‘It is a nice but massive task’, according to Leeflang. ‘170 proposals have to be assessed. Incidentally, there sadly seem to be very few projects among them where our faculties are involved. Hopefully there’ll be more next year’.
The committee makes a preliminary selection from all the applications – there have been requests for nearly EUR 4 billion in grants. The selected consortiums are then invited to present a more detailed proposal within two months. The EUR 100 million will be divided among the project proposals selected in this round. The advisory committee will announce its decisions in the spring.
Smart Mix
The Smart Mix programme was founded to ensure that the numerous excellent researchers and entrepreneurs in the Netherlands start to work together, and with social and cultural organizations. According to Smart Mix, a clever combination of knowledge and application offers the best chance of developing innovative products, services and processes.
