About Charlotte
Hi, I am Charlotte! I’m nineteen years old and currently a second-year student in the English Language and Culture programme. Besides my studies, I am also a student mentor for this programme, whilst working as a tutor outside of school. In my spare time, I really enjoy cooking, reading, and, of course, hanging out with my friends and family.
Why English Language and Culture?
I chose this programme, because the English language has always held a special place in my life and I was very interested in learning more about the language and literature surrounding it. The Open Days for the university helped me in choosing this university, but the Student for a Day really solidified my choice for ELC, as it showed me what I would be learning and what my days in class would be like.
Why Groningen?
I chose the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, because I absolutely love the city and the programme fits my interests and needs the most. The city is wonderful and lively, while still being small enough to easily get around and feeling cosy! Studying here also provided me with the opportunity to live independently, so that contributed to my choice as well!
Future
In the future, I would love to be a secondary school English teacher! This has been my main ambition for years now, but I have been looking into participating in a Phd-programme in the future. Of course, I still have plenty of time before deciding whether or not to pursue this, but I am keeping an eye on my options, and luckily this programme provides me with many of them!
Golden tip
My main tip would be to explore all your options! The Open Days are a great tool for exploring a university and asking questions about the programme and life at university, and the Student for a Day programmes are wonderful in providing more insight on what your day-to-day would look like. Picking your bachelor programme and university are big tasks, and it’s important to pick what is right for you!
If you are interested in coming to Groningen and/or studying ELC and you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to send me an email, and I will be more than happy to help you!
