During the Job Festival, you can attend four different workshops:
Make it in the North

During the How to Make it in the North workshop, we’ll explore key strategies to help you kickstart your career in the North. You’ll discover the importance of networking and how building the right connections can open doors to new opportunities. We’ll also provide practical tips for finding a job or internship, from where to look to how to stand out in a competitive market. Additionally, we’ll cover the art of sending open applications, offering advice on how to approach companies directly.
Make it in the North is part of the International Welcome Center North, a service of the Municipality of Groningen. Their mission is to connect English-speaking jobseekers with international-friendly companies in the Northern Netherlands.
Make it in the North is here for talent in Groningen, Friesland and Drenth. International students are welcome on their platform and at their career events. For the Job Festival the coaches visit the Harmonie Building on November 6th.

Networking

BIG DEAL: How to Negotiate with Confidence Salary, days off, paid leave, insurance - starting your first job with solid benefits makes a huge difference in the rest of your career. We help you be persuasive without sounding prickly, giving you the confidence to stand your ground and get the deal done.
After your job interview, you receive fantastic news: you're the top candidate for the position! However, there's still one hurdle you need to tackle: the salary negotiation. How do you prepare and ensure you stand your ground? To negotiate effectively, you need to be persuasive, and that's exactly what we'll work on during this workshop. Through a realistic scenario, we'll demonstrate that negotiation is essentially a game where you can shape the rules yourself!

THE RIGHT CONNECTION: How to Build a Network that Works for You Sure, it can feel awkward and exhausting at times - but making meaningful and lasting connections can make the job hunt process so much easier. We help you cut through the noise, and ensure you’ve got the knowhow to know who to know!
We all know that networking is important for your career. But did you know you can start doing it during your studies? Building a high-quality network is valuable, both now and after you graduate. In the Networking workshop, we'll guide you through 6 steps on how to effectively and purposefully network, both online and offline. We'll teach you what networking actually entails, how to start conversations, and how to build valuable and long-lasting connections. And, of course, we'll practice networking!

In dit gastcollege nemen we je mee in de wereld van de creatieve industrie. Ook gaan we samen de stappen door die nodig zijn om bij de stage te komen die bij je past. Én er worden waardevolle sollicitatietips gedeeld van professionals uit het vak. Na deze gastles ben jij 10 stappen dichterbij de beste stage voor jou!
We behandelen de volgende vragen:

Mediastages is hét platform voor studenten die stage willen lopen in de creatieve industrie. Op onze site www.mediastages.nl plaatsen wij stagevacatures voor meer dan 300 verschillende bedrijven. Denk aan de publieke omroepen, grote partijen als RTL, Banijay Benelux en Talpa maar ook kleine, innovatieve (start-up) bedrijven, uitgeverijen en online marketing bedrijven. We hebben stages in veel verschillende richtingen: Productie, Redactie, Grafische Vormgeving, Montage, maar ook Marketing/Communicatie. Heel divers, met als gemeenschappelijke deler: de creatieve industrie!
