Open Calls

Joint grants: University of Groningen and University Oldenburg (MyUniversity)

Funding of up to 4000€ per project is available for initiatives that strengthen the bilateral partnership between UG and UOL in areas outlined in the Roadmap for Cooperation 2020–2030, including:

  • Healthy Ageing for a Healthy Society
  • German and Dutch Language, Linguistics, and History
  • Energy Transition and Climate Adaptation
  • Governance, Law, and Politics for a Sustainable Society
  • Digital Society and Technologies
  • Teacher Training
  • Knowledge Transfer, Entrepreneurship, and Public Engagement

Eligible activities include workshops, summer schools, event concepts, or preparatory work for joint project applications (e.g., Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, Interreg).

Projects should have a clear bilateral focus, offering equal opportunities for participation by students, researchers, and teachers from both universities. Initiatives aimed at engaging the wider public are also welcome.

Seed fund public engagement

As part of the Open Science programme, the University of Groningen and the UMCG have introduced a seed fund for public engagement

The fourth round of the fund is now open!

The deadline for applications is 14 November 2025 13:00. 

The seed fund offers academic staff at the University of Groningen and the UMCG the opportunity to receive up to €5,000 for public engagement projects to actively involve a wider audience in their research. The total budget for the incentive fund is €30,000.
