Interactive Workshop at the UG Education Festival 2026: Playtesting the organizational challenges of implementing educational change
On the 25th of March, at the Education Festival 2026, UnExpected Values was presented through an interactive 45 min workshop where participants explored the real-world pressures shaping decisions when it comes to the implementation of innovation. After a short introduction, participants played UnExpected Values: The Open Future and reflected on its potential as both an educational and professional learning tool.
The workshop engaged directly with the theme Values, Voices, and Vision, inviting participants to experience how collaboration, institutional priorities, and educational values shape decision-making. By taking on different stakeholder roles–such as policy makers, educators, learners, and community members–participants negotiated diverse perspectives while navigating constraints and competing goals. Through this process, the game created a playful yet critical space to explore how strategic choices, participation, and power dynamics influence the implementation of educational change.
