On 16th March 2026, the seminar “Regulation of Artificial Intelligence in Criminal Justice” will take place at the House of Connections - University of Groningen!

Experts from various disciplines will present perspectives on the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the criminal justice system and its compliance with the evolving AI and data protection regulations in Europe. Join us if you want to know if law enforcement can use investigative data to train AI for digital evidence, how deep fake images and videos can impact the judicial system, or what are the cybersecurity and data protection challenges when medical devices are examined in criminal investigations?

Concluding remarks

Programme 17 march

Master students analysed a cybersecurity challenge as part of their course work. They will have the opportunity to present their report in front of 3 experts from the panel on the 17 th December and get their feedback. All students in RUG in technology law track will be also invited to attend the event. In addition Prof. Emlyn Butterfield and Veronica Schmitt, Noroff University College will give a workshop for all students interested regarding cybersecurity and investigations on medical devices.
