First foundation pile for new Data centre UG into the ground

18 September 2020

On Friday 18 September 2020 the construction of the new data center for the University of Groningen started at the Zernike Campus Groningen.

In a week's time 61 foundation piles will go down to a depth of 21 meters. To reduce noise and vibration nuisance, the foundation piles (so-called 'continious flight auger CFA) piles') will be screwed.

Planning

Construction started in September 2020. The data centre is expected to be in use early 2022. ENGIE (together with their partners Bouwgroep Dijkstra Draisma, advisor Zentrys, Dijkhuis ingenieurs and Team4architecten) will be responsible for the entire realization of the data centre. In addition, installation technical advisor Deerns will assist the university during the tendering, design and implementation phase.
