Road closure and diversion route for Linnaeusborg

From 5 to 17 January 2026
16 December 2025

From 5 to 17 January, work will be carried out to connect Linnaeusborg to WarmteStad's sustainable heating network. This will require pipes to be laid under Nijenborgh road. Linnaeusborg will therefore be temporarily accessible via a diversion route.

Diversion

The Nijenborgh road will be closed between 5 and 17 January at the main entrance to Linnaeusborg. The path between Bernoulliborg and Linnaeusborg will also be closed during this period. A temporary diversion route will be created for pedestrians, running along the south side of the Energy Academy Europe (EAE).

Accessibility for emergency services

The diversion route must remain clear at all times for emergency services heading to the Linnaeusborg. Therefore, there is a strict parking ban along the EAE (the parking spaces for visitors with physical disabilities near NB4 will remain accessible). As a reminder, fences and signs will be placed on site to ensure that the Linnaeusborg remains easily accessible for emergency services.

Questions?

Please contact backoffice-fse@rug.nl and see the attached map for the diversion route. You can read more about the University of Groningen's connection to WarmteStad's sustainable heating network on the website.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
