New Centre of Expertise Brings Together Knowledge on Group Dynamics and Societal Change

On September 22, 2025, the Centre of Expertise for Group Dynamics in Society will open. The centre brings together researchers, students, and societal partners to combine and apply knowledge on group dynamics and societal change.
The centre was established in response to the need of practitioners for guidance on issues such as polarization in society, online misinformation, and strengthening sustainable community initiatives. At the same time, there was a clear demand to unite expertise from various academic disciplines, making knowledge exchange and joint solutions more feasible.
The focus lies on four core domains: research, education, consultancy, and network development. Through these, the centre supports organizations in improving citizen participation, online dialogue, and social interventions. In addition, students and researchers are offered opportunities to contribute to relevant projects and courses.
Collaboration with governments, civil society organizations, sustainable initiatives, and online platforms is central. In this way, Groningen is positioned nationally and internationally as a knowledge hub in the field of group dynamics and social change.
The official launch will take place during a symposium on September 22, 2025, from 14:00 to 16:00 in the Orangerie.
