Official opening Centre of Expertise Social Sciences, Health and Well-being

When:Th 19-05-2022 15:00 - 17:00
Where:Orangerie

In spring 2022 on May 19, the Center of Expertise Social Sciences Health & Well-being officially opened. To celebrate the opening, we organized a symposium and a "World Cafe." The symposium consisted of a series of six short presentations (see below) that represented the three themes the center focuses on (health interventions and policy development, healthy aging, and health in the social context). After the presentations, a "World Café" followed in which visitors were divided into small groups in which they discussed two questions with each other in two stages: 1) what do you think are the most important health-related questions in the social sciences that we should focus on in this center? 2) what topics would you like to discuss during our brown-bag meetings? The outcomes of the World Café were very varied and ranged from organizing activities where science and practice can be brought closer together (e.g. via a hackathon), social events, organizing a summer school, facilitating a platform/network where people can meet, et cetera. We are using the outcomes of this World Café as inspiration for future meetings. The format of the event (6 short talks & then interaction) was very well received.
