Open Modules

Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences

Anyone who wishes to expand, deepen or renew his or her knowledge in any subject within the social sciences can attend regular lectures on a contract basis without being enrolled as a student. You will then take the subjects of your choice together with the regular students.

What are Open Modules?

The faculty provides education in various fields of study for the benefit of regular students. To attend courses, you should normally be enrolled at the university as a (part-time) student. You would then have access to all courses offered. However, if you would like to attend just one or some of the courses being offered, you can do so as "contract student". When interested you can apply by course, after which the admissions committee of the relevant programme will assess whether you are admissible on the basis of your prior knowledge/pre-education.

For whom are the Open Modules suited?

If you are interested in topics from the educational sciences, psychology or sociology, the Open Modules offer you a rich resource to draw from. In addition, taking one or more subjects may be useful for your profession, specialisation, re-entry or to gain access to specific professions.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are a student at another faculty or university and wish to take courses with us, the information on minors/educational minors and supplementary subjects applies to you.

Which courses are offered as Open Modules?

In the online Education Catalogue Open Colleges GMW you can find which courses are offered. Click on the course name for more information. In the annual timetable you can find the structure of the academic year. The schedule of a course can be found in the course timetable.
