About us Faculty of Religion, Culture and Society Education Exchange Programme Religion and Culture

Free mover exchange

It may be possible to come to Groningen as a free mover. Bachelor's and Master's students who are interested in an exchange period in Groningen, but whose home university does not have a mobility agreement with the Faculty of Religion, Culture and Society can apply as a “free mover”. Depending on the intended study programme, the faculty may or may not be able to host you. Students applying as a free mover should be in the second year of their Theology or Religious Studies programme at the moment of applying. The following documents should be submitted when first contacting us:

  • Proof of sufficient knowledge of English (level B2)
  • CV and motivation letter
  • Transcript of records
  • Official approval of the home university to apply as a free mover
  • Copy of bachelor degree certificate (if applying for master courses)

A maximum of two free mover students per semester can be accepted.

Tuition Fees

As a free mover, you have to pay tuition fees per course unit. So the total amount of your tuition fee depends on the number of course units you would like to follow. The fees are the same as the fees for Open Courses.

Please contact the International Office of the Faculty: internationaloffice.rcs@rug.nl

Application deadlines

Application deadlines are 15 March (autumn semester) and 15 October (spring semester). Contact the international office at your home university for more information on the procedure, or send an email to internationaloffice.rcs@rug.nl
