Study Association

A study association is an organization run by a team of students from the respective bachelor’s and master’s degree programme(s). The FSE study associations organize many activities for students, including introductory camps and monthly “borrels” (informal social gatherings, often with drinks), but also more serious events such as company visits or conferences. Study associations differ from the general student associations where the degree programme is irrelevant. And study associations do not have hazing rituals.

Hi there, and a warm astronomical welcome to the University of Groningen!

Sirius A is well known as the brightest star in the night sky, but for us it means much more. Our study association was created for all the passionate Astronomy students in Groningen - from bachelors to masters, and even PhDs!

As a member, you get to experience both career oriented activities and fun events organized by our committees (which you can join too!). We have a great relationship with the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute, so our members can have relaxed chats with their favorite professors and get actively involved with research. On top of this we organize a ton of activities throughout the year, ranging from social events where we relax, unwind and bond; to educational events that give a clearer view on your future as an astronomer. We also host weekly study clubs, where we can all come together and help each other with assignments.

If you wish to find the right path in your career while having fun and meeting new people, Sirius A is the perfect place for you!
