For admission for this Master's programme you need a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computing Science, Physics, Astronomy, Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacy, Engineering, or related disciplines.

Communication track
All Bachelor's programmes of the Faculty of Science and Engineering offer direct admission to the Communication track within this Master's programme.
In all other cases, the Admissions Board decides on admission.

Education track
For the Education track, the Admissions Board decides on admission in all cases.
Please note: for the Education track, an additional language requirement applies.
For non-native speakers of Dutch, this entails passing the State Examination in Dutch as a Second Language, Programme II (NT2-II).

Are you currently enrolled in a Dutch (HBO) Bachelor’s programme and interested in one of our Master’s programmes? A Pre-master’s programme may be offered to students with a Dutch Bachelor’s degree who have covered some but not all key subjects in their own degree. Also, students with a relevant HBO degree are not directly admissible but can be offered a pre-master programme.

Various higher professional education programmes (HBO) offer access to the Education track in different subject areas through a Pre-master's programme up to a maximum of 60 ECTS. Admission is always determined individually by the Board of Admissions, based on the documents to be submitted, but is often possible with the following types of higher professional education programmes:

• Biology and Medical Laboratory Research: Pre-master's programme of usually around 30 to 40 ECTS, for the Education track in the field of Biology. Other biology-related programmes: on request via the Board of Admissions.
  

• Chemistry/Chemical Technology: Pre-master's programme of typically around 15 to 40 ECTS, for the Education track in the field of Chemistry.
  

• Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering: Pre-master's programme sometimes possible (at the discretion of the admissions board), for the Education track in the field of Physics.
  
• Software Engineering: Pre-master's programme sometimes possible (at the discretion of the admissions board), for the Education track in the field of Computer Science.

There are no known HBO-programmes that provide access to the Education track - field of Mathematics - via a Pre-master's programme.

With the above-mentioned higher professional education programmes, you can also be admitted to the Communication track after completing a Pre-master's programme (content is determined by the Board of Admissions).

The content of a Pre-master's programme is always determined individually based on deficiencies in the previous education and therefore varies greatly in practice. Therefore, no standard Pre-master's programme can be published as an example.

General note: it is not possible to transfer from a second-degree teacher training programme to a Master's programme. The subject deficiencies are too great for this. A first-degree qualification can only be obtained through a Master's programme at a university of applied sciences (HBO).

After successful completion of this Pre-master's programme you can start the Master's programme in September.

Please register in Studielink for the (Pre-) Master’s programme (including the track if available). Please make sure you meet the payment obligations before the starting date (single payment or in instalments).

Some Pre-master’s do not have their own programme in Studielink.

To file an application for admission to the (Pre-)Master's programme, you need to upload the following documents in the application process which is described below.

Please note; the documents should be subitted as PDF-files and in English. Other formats and languages will not be taken into consideration!
The maximum file-size is 5 MB. If it is not possible to crop your PDF file to < 5 MB, please contact us.

1. Educational History.
2. Overview of completed courses.
3. Copy of Bachelor’s degree or official statement of graduation, or if you have not obtained one yet, a document containing a description + planning of the remaining course units in your Bachelor's programme.

After the Board of Admissions has assessed your admission request you will receive an (conditional) admission letter within six weeks.

When you have not yet obtained your Bachelor's degree you will receive a conditional admission letter.

After you have submitted your admission request the Board of Admissions will assess your file. You will receive an admission decision letter within six weeks. When the board has determined that your educational background or allignment with the Master's programme is insufficient you wil receive a rejection letter.

After the Board of Admissions has assessed your admission request you will receive an (conditional) admission letter by email within six weeks.

When you have not yet obtained your Bachelor's degree you will receive a conditional admission letter.

Please note: If you are admitted to a Fast-track programme, you will receive further instructions via the admission letter regarding enrolment in Studielink and the remaining steps.

If you disagree with a decision, you can lodge a complaint, objection or appeal. Complaints, objections and appeals can be submitted to the Central Portal for the Legal Protection of Student Rights (CLRS).
