9.00 - 17.30: FSS Career Day 2018

On the 1st of June 2018 the Career Day of the faculty of Spatial Sciences will take place. This day gives students, PhD candidates and employers a chance to meet and network.

The day will start with a company visit where you can get a taste of the daily activities on the work floor at a company related to your field of study. After the lunch there will be a plenary lecture given by an influential person in the field, telling about his or her personal career. Furthermore, workshops will be given by several employers providing tips and lessons to develop your personal skills. The day will end with a social drink, with stands of various companies. This gives you the chance to network.

Currently we are very busy preparing this interesting day and to make it as successful as its precursors. Don't miss this great opportunity to get orientated on the labour market and to get in touch with future employers.

W.J. van den Bremen lecture

This year we are proud to have no one less than Henk Ovink, the Special Envoy for International Water Affairs from our government, speak at the W.J. van den Bremen Lecture. Henk Ovink will talk about living with water in the current changing environment. Next to that he will speak at this lecture, he will also be the new Honorary Lecturer of the Faculty of Spatial Sciences! To celebrate his appointment and to talk about the lecture we will have the chance to drink a beer (or soda) afterwards.

Since 2004 the Lecture Commitee of Ibn Battuta organizes this event to honor Willem Jan van den Bremen (1931-2003). Prof. van den Bremen was dean of our Faculty and professor in economic and social geography. With naming the lecture after him, Ibn Battuta thanks him for his work at the faculty as well as his contributions in the field of geography.

12.00-18.00: Graduate Research Day, Duisenbergplaza

On Graduate Research Day student researchers get the stage. It is also the place where students, professionals, researchers and alumni meet. The Graduate Research Day serves 3 goals:

  • Showcase the research performed at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences. The intended public includes students from other programmes, staff members, family and, importantly, professionals
  • Provide a platform to recognize and reward students that have performed excellent research
  • Provide a network opportunity for students, staff members and professionals. The Research Day helps students to connect with the labour market

To give you an impression about the GRD please take a look at the first GRD, organised in June 2016. All of the pictures taken on the 26th of June, 2017 can be found here.
