Cultural groups and activities
Groningen is renowned for its cultural facilities. The striking Groninger Museum, the Noorderzon Festival, site-specific theatre, the Eurosonic/Noorderslag music festival, outdoor opera performances… The USVA, the University of Groningen’s student cultural centre with its two theatre halls, makes it own contribution to this atmosphere. In the theatre halls, you can attend dance, music or cabaret performances. Or you can do a course so that later you can go on stage yourself. Jazz, theatre sports, tango dancing, video, t’ai chi – you can do any or all of them! At the University Theatre, you can attend various performances, by students and professionals – at a student-friendly price, that goes without saying!
But the University of Groningen does even more for cultural devotees. For instance, every year the student with the best idea for a cultural project is given a grant to make their dream come true. And each year a new University Poet is appointed, who expresses views in verse on events at the University several times a year.
